REI provides specialized contract directional drilling services for both surface and underground mining operations.  Coal Mining Services Include:

• Geological Exploration: Directionally drilled horizontal boreholes with Geosensing to define coal thickness, and characterize post-depositional channeling or intrusions, and faulting. Services include spot coring, geophysical and geomechanical logging, gas and water production logging, and real-time geological interpretation.
• Methane Drainage & Gas Control: In-seam degasification boreholes (from surface or underground), horizontal GOB boreholes, vertical well intercepts, and turnkey underground gas gathering system design and installation.
• Water Transfer & Drainage: Directional boreholes of varying diameter to connect or dewater mine pools, allowing centralized water control and discharge while reducing treatment and permitting requirements. Includes sump-to-sump drainage systems, and lateral manifolds for depressurization in advance of mining.
• Abandoned Mine Verification (AMV): Provides safe mining barriers near old works while maximizing coal recovery.
• Destressing: Pre-mining treatments using inert gas pressure fracturing of directionally drilled boreholes to reduce material strength and improve mining efficiency.
• Utilities & Instrumentation: Directional boreholes for installation of pipelines, power, water transfer lines, rock dusting systems, and monitoring equipment.
